About Lieselot

About Lieselot

"Lieselot De Wilde is a soprano of unrestrained talent and creativity. She interprets Bernier's music in an exquisite way, never losing the subtleness specific to the French baroque music. Her articulation is refined and her expression very well balanced . Truly a first-class recording." ***** Sylvia Broeckaert, De Keuze van Klara on the record "Trois visage d'Hécate, cantates à voix seule by Nicolas Bernier" with Korneel Bernolet and Ensemble Apotheosis.

Lieselot graduated magna cum laude at the Lemmens Institute, tutored by Dina Grossberger and Katelijne Van Laethem. Later on she studied with Jard Van Nes. In 2014 she participated in the Academy of Pierre Boulez during the Lucern Festival where she sang the first solo part in Luciano Berioʼs Coro under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. She obtained a first prize during the Concours Axion Classic of Belfius Bank as well, attended master classes with Alain Buet, Greta De Reyghere, Axel Everaert and Udo Reinemann and was introduced in early music practice by Erik Van Nevel, Dirk Snellings, Jill Feldman and Stratton Bull.

She was one of the three soloist in The Wasp Factory, an opera by the minimalistic and experimental Icelandic composer Ben Frost. This production was commissioned by Kunst Aus der Zeit of the Bregenzer Festspiele and toured afterwards to Hebbel Am Ufer Berlin, Holland Festival and Royal Opera House Covent Garden. She sang in The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell with Muziektheater Transparant, one of the daughters in Akhnaten by Philip Glass at Opera Flanders under the baton of Titus Engel and staged by Nigel Lowery and Amir Hosseinpour. She appeared as a soloist in the Lassus Project Canticum Canticorum under the baton of Leonardo Garcia Alarcon with Chœur de chambre de Namur. Furthermore, Lieselot has the pleasure to work with ensembles such as Psallentes, Zefiro Torna, Vox Luminis, Det Norske Solistkor, Spectra, Asko/Schönberg, Hildebrandt Consort, Musique Nouvelle. She also cherished an intense collaboration with ensemble Apotheosis, conducted by Korneel Bernolet, with composer Dick van der Harst and with lute player Sofie Van den Eynde.

Lieselot appeared in several successful productions of LOD, a Ghent-based company for creation of contemporary opera and music-theatre. She sang the role of Hannah in the production Muur (Dominique Pauwels, Inne Goris), Meneer Afzal (Thomas Smetryns, Pieter De Buysser), she sang the role of Arthur Rimbaud in LʼAutre Hiver (Dominique Pauwels, Denis Marleau), and House of forbidden music, the revenche (Dick van der Harst). These productions toured to Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Operadays Rotterdam, Festival TransAmériques Montréal, Gulbenkian Musica Lisboa, De Singel Antwerp, Opera Flanders, Maison de la Culture d'Amiens,...

Together with jazz guitarist and oud player Peter Verhelst she founded the ensemble Bel Ayre with which she searches for new interpretations and realizations of the song genre, including and combining techniques, instrumental colors and virtuosity from both classical and jazz/traditional music.

Upcoming
This year she will sing in two LOD creations, composed by Frederik Neyrinck. One will be created for Concertgebouw Brugge, where she will sing the role of Echo in Zolang hij niet zichzelve kent... alongside Josse De Pauw and Koenraad Tinel. In The unknown girl (working title), staged by Atelier Bildraum, she will sing the role of Little girl alongside Asko/Schönberg Ensemble. She will sing recitals with lute player Sofie Van den Eynde and harpist Sarah Ridy, with Dick van der Harst, with Korneel Bernolet and Apotheosis, a recital at Opera Vlaanderen as part of Opera 21.
